Therapist and Patient Needs for Feedback in Independent XR Rehabilitation

Samenvatting

Research on the use of Extended Reality (XR) in rehabilitation shows promising results. Studies suggest that virtual environments can motivate patients to repeat exercises more frequently and improve their performance by progressing through game levels. However, despite these positive findings, research shows that the implementation of XR in clinical practice for patients with acquired brain injury (ABI) remains limited.  For the successful use of XR to enable patients to independently practice arm and hand skills, it is essential that therapists have insight in the quality of the exercises their patients perform. For patients, it is equally important to track their progress. This study explores the question: What insights do therapists and patients need to ensure that patients perform arm and hand exercises independently and intensively using XR applications?
